Oil boilers run off of home heating oil which is stored in a large tank usually in your basement. When the controller calls it activates a pump on the burner which draws fuel through a copper line from the tank. it then pushes the fuel through a nozzle and is then ignited by the electrodes located inside of the burner. The burner heats the 'fire box' which heats the water passing through the boiler. then it is dispersed through copper lines to its target system. Boilers can be used for both demestic hot water and heating systems.
We provide service for all oil fired boiler systems.
We also provied periodic maintenance for all boiler systems.
steps you can take before calling.
1) check to make sure you have power(make sure the curcuit breaker is not 'tripped' and no one accidentally shut off the safety switches to the boiler: looks like a light switch with a red faceplate usually indicating it is for the boiler.)
2) check to make sure it is 'calling' for the boiler to fire(usually when the hot water is running or the thermostat is on 'heat' mode)
3)make sure the burner reset is pushed in.(a small red button on the top of the burner located to the right. if it is tripped it will usually be in the up position.) push and hold it until the boiler resets. if the boiler reset trips again do not try to reset it and call us immediately.
in the event of a fuel leak, DO NOT attempt to restart your system. this could result in a fire or serious injury. please call us immediately!
